Green and Hard Waste Removal in the Dandenong Ranges

Green and hard waste removal from properties across the Dandenong Ranges and Melbourne's outer south-east. This is the service for the load your council collection will not take: bulk green waste, untied branches and prunings, material over the collection cap, and blocks with no kerbside bin at all. We load it, take it off site and dispose of it properly. Fully insured, $20M public liability, itemised estimate before we start.

Our Waste Removal Options

Choose the service level that best fits your needs

Bulk Green Waste and Prunings

Branches, prunings, hedge cut-back, slashed growth and leaf litter loaded and taken off site, in volumes a kerbside bin cannot absorb.

Ideal for: Garden clear-outs, hedge reductions, tree pruning clean-ups and blocks that have got ahead of regular maintenance

  • Untied branches and long prunings, no bundling requirement
  • Volumes well past a fortnightly green bin or a bookable council collection
  • Loaded from where it lies, including sloped and rear access
  • Cleared as a one-off or built into a recurring visit
  • Chipped on site instead of carted where that suits the property
  • Disposed of through licensed facilities

Hard Waste and Non-Kerbside Properties

Collection from properties with no kerbside service, and removal of the material council hard rubbish collections exclude.

Ideal for: Green Wedge and Rural Conservation blocks, acreage and lifestyle properties, and any clear-out producing soil, rubble or building material

  • Rural and acreage blocks with no kerbside green or hard waste service
  • Loads over the council size cap, or outside the booking cycle
  • Soil, rubble, bricks and broken concrete priced and disposed of separately
  • Items past the council length and weight limits
  • Commercial, strata and owners corporation sites
  • Itemised estimate before anything is loaded

Our Process

Simple, professional, and reliable service delivery every time.

1

Assessment

Volume, material type, access and where the load sits. Soil, rubble and building material are identified up front because they go to a different facility.

2

Itemised Estimate

Priced per job on volume, material, access and time. If a free council collection would cover what you have, we will say so.

3

Scheduled Collection

A confirmed date. Loading is done by hand and machine as the site allows, including sloped, rear and non-kerbside access.

4

Removal and Clean-Up

Everything is carted off site to a licensed facility, and the ground it came off is raked and left clean.

Seasonal Considerations

Mid-winter is when this problem peaks, and the hills feel it hardest. Yarra Ranges runs one scheduled hard rubbish round a year, rostered by area rather than booked on request, so there is a long stretch with nothing to fall back on. Green Wedge and Rural Conservation blocks have no kerbside green bin either, and burning restrictions are in force across the region at this time of year. That combination leaves removal from site as the only realistic option on a lot of properties right now. In Cardinia the one genuine alternative is the free hard waste collection entitlement, which resets at the start of each financial year: if your load fits inside it, use it, and we will say so. Restrictions and entitlements vary by shire and change through the year, so confirm yours with your council rather than assuming.

Safety & Compliance

Waste Removal Service Areas

Terra Maintenance delivers waste removal across Melbourne's south-east, from the hill suburbs of the Dandenong Ranges through the City of Casey and Cardinia Shire, down to the established Greater Dandenong and City of Monash residential belts.

Whether you need waste removal on a steep Emerald block, a heritage Berwick garden, a new-estate Beaconsfield lawn or a Dandenong commercial property, each suburb page below carries the local detail (typical soils, common species, scheduling notes) that shapes how we approach the work in that area.

What is not included, and what we refer out

  • Hazardous material. Asbestos, chemicals, fuels, paint and gas bottles all need a licensed hazardous waste contractor. We will not load them.
  • Established blackberry and heavy woody regrowth. Referred to our partner Ruggedscapes, who carry the machinery for it. Lighter infestations sit inside our overgrowth management work.
  • Excavation and earthmoving. Our land clearing is vegetation clearing only. No site cuts, no excavator work, and no construction-ready claims.
  • Stump grinding. Arranged through trusted specialist partners rather than done in-house.
  • Emergency, urgent and same-day collections. We do not run them. Every collection is scheduled with a confirmed date.

Why waste removal is a hills problem more than a corridor one

The three councils across our service area handle waste very differently, and the structure matters more than any single number. Cardinia gives households free bookable collections each financial year, with the entitlement resetting at the start of it, so Pakenham, Officer, Beaconsfield, Emerald, Cockatoo and Gembrook households generally still have theirs in hand at this point in the year. Casey is bookable too, with a volume cap plus per-item length and weight limits, and it excludes concrete, rubble, bricks, soil and dirt. Yarra Ranges is the outlier: one scheduled round a year, not bookable, rostered by area, which is why the hills have no fallback for most of the year. Entitlements, caps and exclusions differ by council and change over time, so confirm yours before planning around them.

Block size does the rest. A Cardinia new-estate lot is most commonly 350 to 399m², the single largest size band in current listings. A Green Wedge lot has a 40 hectare minimum, Rural Conservation 8 hectares, and rural subdivision around Gembrook a 15 hectare minimum. That is a difference of roughly a thousand times in land area between the two ends of the same service area, and the volume of material a clear-out produces scales with it. Rainfall does too: the Ranges run about 1,000mm to 1,500mm a year against Pakenham's 865mm, so growth in the hills simply does not stop for as long.

Waste removal is usually booked alongside the work that generates the material: overgrowth clearing, hedge reduction, tree pruning, seasonal leaf clean-ups and gutter cleaning. Where chipping on site makes more sense than carting, that runs through our mulching and chipping service instead.

Waste removal across the Ranges and the corridor

The tightest demand right now sits in the Yarra Ranges hills: Belgrave, Selby, Monbulk, Olinda, Sassafras, Tecoma, Ferny Creek and Macclesfield. We also cover Upper Ferntree Gully, which sits in Knox rather than Yarra Ranges, so the council arrangements there are different again and worth confirming with Knox before you plan around them. In the Cardinia and Casey corridor, including Gembrook, Emerald, Pakenham Upper and Beaconsfield Upper, we are worth calling for loads over the council cap, untied branches, bulk green waste, rural properties with no kerbside service, and anything on the council exclusion list.
